LAST RIDE TO WOUNDED KNEE

In 1890 the U.S. Army surrounded and shot down 300 Sioux at Wounded Knee, South Dakota.

One hundred years later, Folke Rydén and cameramen Mats Lund and Dan Jåma were able to closely capture an American nightmare among the Sioux Indians: alcoholism, unemployment and dependence on government handouts.

“Last ride to Wounded Knee” examines the struggle of the Sioux to regain their culture and self-respect through a 250 mile, bitterly cold memorial ride to the site of the massacre at Wounded Knee.
